The matter runs itself.
You supervise it.
MatterOS is an agentic operating system for the solo and small-firm lawyer. Drop in the files of a real case and the matter assembles itself - parties, chronology, findings, deadlines, drafts - with every fact cited back to its source.
MatterOS is AI-powered legal practice-management software for solo attorneys and small law firms - an agentic operating system for the entire practice.
Drop in the files of a real case - PDFs, Word documents, emails, scans, photos, even voicemails - and the matter assembles itself in about ninety seconds: parties identified, a chronology built, key findings surfaced, open issues flagged, deadlines tracked, and the next draft already written. Every asserted fact is cited back to the exact paragraph in the exact document it came from.
There are no templates, no custom fields, and no configuration. The lawyer never types a field. Instead of operating the software, the lawyer does what they trained for and enjoy: to read, to judge, to decide, to approve. The machine does the assembling; the judgment stays human.
A clean cockpit, a tireless junior beneath it.
MatterOS handles everything mechanical - organising documents, building the matter, tracking deadlines - so the lawyer can do everything judgemental. Here is what runs underneath.
Intake
Drop a folder, forward an email thread, paste text, or snap a photo. In about ninety seconds a chaotic pile becomes a structured matter - parties, chronology, findings, and open issues, every line linked back to the exact paragraph it came from.
Voice capture
Tap record and speak the update after a call or a hearing. MatterOS transcribes it, files it into the right matter, updates the chronology, surfaces the new deadline, and waits for your approval before committing anything.
Ask & draft
Ask the matter a question in plain English and get an answer drawn from its own documents, cited to the source. Ask for a reply, a demand letter, or a notice and get a draft shaped by the MATTER Method, ready for your read.
The cockpit
Not a list of folders - an instrument panel. Deadlines across every matter ranked by what hurts if missed, quiet matters surfaced before they slip, and a single ranked answer to one question: what needs you today.
Client portal
A clean, branded portal where the client uploads documents and reads plain-language status updates drafted from the live state of the matter. You approve and share - and never write another 'just following up' email at eleven at night.
Privilege by design
Strict tenant isolation, immutable audit logs, role-based access scoped by matter, and client-portal views you curate. Privileged work stays inside your firm's walls, and your data is portable with no lock-in.
AI-assisted features support the professional's own workflow and do not constitute legal advice. MatterOS is not a law firm.
The framework you teach, made literal.
Every matter that enters MatterOS organises itself along the spine of the MATTER Method - six pillars, one living architecture. The Method is the spine; the AI is the muscle that arranges everything along it.
The case file as a living, connected object - not a folder.
Commitments attached to legal outcomes, organised by what happens if they're missed.
Time as practice intelligence, not a billing record reconstructed at month-end.
Accountability structures built to survive beyond one person.
Every fact anchored to the precise document it came from. AI reads; the lawyer decides.
The compounding layer - one matter's learning becomes the next matter's advantage.
Eight focused agents, working the groundwork.
Every artifact arrives cited, filed, and ready for the only thing only the lawyer can give: judgment. Every agent shows its work, every claim cites its source, and nothing is committed to the record until you say yes.

MatterOS is built by a lawyer who lived the problem.
Founder Raghav Handa trained and practised in the courts of India, the UAE, and Singapore, then spent about a year scaling a legal-tech company to more than a hundred thousand lawyers. He watched good lawyers give up at the same moment, every time - onboarding the matter - and built MatterOS to delete that moment entirely. It is independent and founder-funded, and the founder answers his own email.
Everything, in plain terms.
What is MatterOS?
MatterOS is AI-powered legal practice-management software for solo attorneys and small law firms - an agentic operating system for the whole practice. You drop in the files of a real case (PDFs, Word documents, emails, scans, photos, even voicemails) and the matter assembles itself: parties identified, chronology built, key findings surfaced, deadlines tracked, and the next draft already written, with every asserted fact cited back to its exact source paragraph. The lawyer reads, judges, decides, and approves. The matter runs itself; you supervise it.
Who is MatterOS for?
MatterOS is built for the solo practitioner and the small firm - the lawyer who is brilliant at law and indifferent to technology, who has tried every template and bought every system and still ends the week with a desktop full of folders. Early users span family, immigration, employment, and commercial practice.
How is MatterOS different from traditional legal software?
For thirty years, legal software has asked the lawyer to do the work of the machine: open the matter, create the folders, name the files, fill the fields. MatterOS flips that relationship. The lawyer does not operate MatterOS; MatterOS operates the matter and reports back. Onboarding a matter takes about ninety seconds instead of hours, with no templates, custom fields, or configuration to set up.
What is the MATTER Method?
The MATTER Method is the proprietary six-pillar framework MatterOS is built around: Matter, Actions, Time, Team, Evidence, and Research. The Method is the spine; the AI is the muscle that arranges everything along it. Every matter that enters MatterOS is composed into this structure rather than summarised into a generic wall of text.
Can I trust what the AI produces?
Every asserted fact is cited back to its exact source paragraph, and nothing is committed to the record until the lawyer approves it. AI output is labelled, traceable, and never a substitute for professional judgment. Authorities in legal research are ranked by confidence and low-confidence citations are flagged for independent verification.
Is my client data used to train AI models?
No. Your documents are processed for your matters only and are never used to train shared models. Everything is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256), isolated to your firm with row-level security, and exportable as structured JSON at any time.
How much does MatterOS cost?
MatterOS has three month-to-month plans: Solo at $49/month, Practice at $149/month, and Firm at $399/month. Every plan includes AI credits, document storage, and a 7-day free trial of the full product with no credit card required to begin.
Who built MatterOS?
MatterOS is built by Raghav Handa, a practising lawyer who trained and practised in the courts of India, the UAE, and Singapore, then spent about a year scaling a legal-tech company to more than 100,000 lawyers. It is independent and founder-funded, and the founder answers his own email.
